Swansea Council is the admitting authority for all admissions in
Years 7-11. Information regarding the admissions and application
process can be found on the Swansea Council website. The
deadline for applications for Year 7 entry in September 2025
is 29th November 2024. Pupils in Year 6 and their families are
warmly invited to attend the school’s Open Evening held in the
          Autumn Term.

The partner primary schools linked to Olchfa include Cila,
Dunvant, Hendrefoilan, Parkland and Sketty. However, many
parents from across the city choose to apply for a place for their
son/daughter at Olchfa under the preferred placement system. We
have very well-established links with our partner primary schools
and liaise closely with the Year 6 teachers to ensure a smooth
transition to Olchfa. Transition activities are arranged throughout
the course of Year 6, culminating in a ‘transition week’ held on
site at Olchfa towards the end of the summer term. All pupils who
have successfully been offered a place at Olchfa will be invited to
          attend the transition week.

          Engagement with Parents/Carers

Parents’ evenings are held once a year for each year group. This
allows an opportunity to discuss pupil progress with subject
teachers. Pupils will also receive a written report each year, to
inform parents of progress in learning.

We promote family engagement through a range of topical
workshops and information sessions that are held throughout the
year. In the past, we have offered sessions on online safety, mental
health of teenagers and parenting skills.

The first point of contact for parents is through the relevant
Learning Leader for the child’s year group. We are always happy to
meet with parents, on an appointment basis, should there be any
issues that need to be discussed.
